Honoring the Fallen — Preserving Their Legacy Through Education, Inspiration, and Remembrance
This Memorial Day, Airbase Georgia joins communities across the nation in honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country.
Memorial Day is more than the beginning of summer. It is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through extraordinary sacrifice across generations of Americans — including the more than 400,000 Americans who lost their lives during World War II.
As the Georgia Wing of the Commemorative Air Force and one of the largest World War II flying museums in the Southeast, Airbase Georgia remains committed to preserving the stories, aircraft, and legacy of the Greatest Generation through the CAF mission to Educate, Honor, and Inspire.
Throughout the year, Airbase Georgia brings living history to communities across Georgia through aircraft exhibitions, educational programs, veteran storytelling, and public events designed to connect new generations with the lessons and sacrifices of World War II.
In recent years, Airbase Georgia has expanded its focus on education and youth engagement, including World War II history programming for students, aviation career awareness initiatives, and partnerships designed to help connect young people with both history and future opportunities in aviation and aerospace.
“Memorial Day reminds us that freedom was secured through sacrifice,” said Airbase Georgia Leader Mark Richards. “Our responsibility today is not only to remember those who served and gave their lives, but to ensure future generations understand their stories, their courage, and the values they defended. Through our growing education programs, Airbase Georgia is committed to helping inspire that understanding for years to come.”
This Memorial Day weekend, Airbase Georgia encourages families and communities to take time to reflect, remember, and honor those who never returned home.
Their sacrifice must never be forgotten.
