CAF Airbase Georgia Caps Busy Airshow Month with Tuskegee Appearance

A PT-19 trainer is nearing completion at Commemorative Airbase Georgia in Peachtree City. The vintage aircraft, being restored for a second time, once served the Tuskegee Airmen during WWII at Moton Field in Tuskegee, Ala. It will receive a livery representing that time in its flying history, and return to offering flights to anyone interested in purchasing a ride at Airbase Georgia. PEACHTREE CITY, GA. (May 15, 2023) – Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia will cap a busy month of airshows with an appearance at Tuskegee, Ala., on May 27. The Tuskegee Fly-In, part of the Memorial Day weekend observation, will include several CAF units from various cities around the Southeast.

Airbase Georgia’s fleet of vintage World War II aircraft will be fully utilized in the month of May, with weekend appearances in Biloxi, Miss., Augusta, Ga., and Peru, Ill., on the schedule. The May 27 gathering at Tuskegee Moton Field is the 54th annual fly-in for the historic airfield, and the day will be dedicated to the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen of WWII.

“It’s an honor to join with our fellow CAF units and recognize the accomplishments of the famed Tuskegee Airmen who were based at Moton Field,” said Airbase Georgia Leader Joel Perkins.
