A: Airbase Georgia is the Georgia chapter of the Commemorative Air Force. Airbase Georgia is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to preserving WWII aircraft and teaching WWII history. Airbase Georgia is a resource for Atlanta area citizens, teachers, home schoolers, scout troops, and local youth organizations.
Q: What is the Commemorative Air Force?
A: The CAF was founded to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States, and selected aircraft of other nations, for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans.
Q: Where is Airbase Georgia located?
A: Airbase Georgia is based at Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field in Peachtree City, GA. We are about 25 miles South of Atlanta. Please see here for detailed directions.
Q: Is Airbase Georgia Historic Airpower Facility available for tours/special events?
A: YES! Airbase Georgia Airpower Facility is available for tours free of charge. Special events can be booked for a fee by calling the hangar at +1 (678) 364-1110. Q: Can anyone become a member of Airbase Georgia?
A: YES! Airbase Georgia is made up of people from all walks of life who share a passion for preserving combat aircraft and teaching. We have pilots, veterans, mechanics, families, professionals and students.
Q: How can I learn more about Airbase Georgia?
A: Come to our hangar at Falcon Field! We have monthly meetings the first Saturday of each month, and we have a lot of information on this website.
Q: How much does it cost to join Airbase Georgia?
A: Commemorative Air Force membership costs just $225 per year. Airbase Georgia dues are only $49 per year, and all dues are tax-deductible. For additional information, please email recruiting@airbasegeorgia.org. Include your address and phone number and we will contact you.
Q: As a member can I ride in Airbase Georgia airplanes?
A: YES! Members and flight crews get to ride our aircraft to airshows frequently. Non-members can make a tax-deductible contribution to our “living history” program in exchange for a chance to experience flying in one of our warbirds.
Q: Do I have to be a pilot or mechanic to join?
A: NO! The members of Airbase Georgia come from all walks of life and range in age from 18 on up. We have aircraft mechanics, students, retired folks, housewives, airline pilots, salesmen, construction workers and many more who are all interested in World War II aircraft.
Q: Do I have to be over 17 to join?
A: You must be 18 or older to become a Colonel in the CAF.
