Peachtree City, GA (November 10, 2025) – Airbase Georgia’s Veterans Day Open House on November 8 was a resounding success, welcoming local families and veterans to the hangar at Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field. Visitors explored historic World War II aircraft and artifacts restored, maintained, and flown by Airbase Georgia volunteers as a tribute to America’s “Greatest Generation.”
Guests had the opportunity to meet the skilled volunteers currently restoring two of the Airbase’s most iconic aircraft — a yellow N2S Stearman biplane, a type used to train thousands of WWII pilots, and a P-47N Thunderbolt, a powerful long-range fighter known for escorting bombers deep into enemy territory. Rides in restored aircraft were also available for purchase.
The Open House commemorated Veterans Day and celebrated the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, honoring the service and sacrifice of those who defended freedom eight decades ago.
“The Airbase Georgia Open House is always free to the public and provides an opportunity for our community to connect with the Commemorative Air Force mission and with American history in a personal way,” said Joel Perkins, Airbase Leader. “We’re proud to share the stories of courage and innovation that shaped our nation during World War II.”
The event also drew attention from local media. WSB-TV featured Airbase Georgia’s efforts to preserve aviation history and commemorate this milestone anniversary. You can view their coverage here.
Airbase Georgia extends its gratitude to all visitors, volunteers, and veterans who helped make the event a success.
