PEACHTREE CITY (March 25, 2025) – Airbase Georgia has launched the return of the popular Georgia Warbird Tour, a campaign that will bring living history to communities across the state. This dynamic tour will feature historic World War II aircraft at airshows, community festivals and educational events, giving the public an up-close and personal experience with America’s aviation heritage. This year’s tour is dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the end of World War II and 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Navy & Marines.
The 2025 Warbird Tour aims to promote the mission of the Commemorative Air Force: to educate, inspire, and honor through flight and living history experiences.
“The Warbird Tour is our way of sharing our mission with families, veterans, and communities throughout Georgia,” said Airbase Leader Joel Perkins. “It’s about making history accessible – reaching people where they are and creating those magical moments that inspire citizenship and careers in aviation.”
Each tour stop will feature aircraft on static display as well as in flight, offering photo opportunities and the chance to book unforgettable rides in historic warbirds. CAF members and volunteers will be on hand to share stories, explain restoration work and engage visitors in hands-on exhibits that bring the past to life.
Stops on the 2025 tour will include regional airports, aviation expos, veteran appreciation days, and hometown festivals throughout Georgia, with appearances planned in cities such as Douglas, Atlanta, Peachtree City, Athens, and Greensboro. The tour is also part of a broader effort to connect with schools, ROTC programs, and civic organizations interested in aviation and American history.
In addition to public events, Airbase Georgia is partnering with the Georgia World War II Heritage Trail members to spotlight the state’s historic sites and museums that preserve the WWII legacy. This collaboration enhances the educational value of the tour, weaving together stories of airmen, home front workers, and Georgia’s contributions to the war effort. The organization’s restored PT-19 Cornell used by Tuskegee Airmen recently participated in “Wings & Things” in Douglas, where a 99-year World War II pilot was reunited with the type of aircraft he flew in training.
The 2025 Georgia Warbird Tour is made possible through the dedication of more than 300 CAF volunteers. Airshow appearances, the Living History Flight Experience program, special events rentals, and individual donations help fund ongoing aircraft maintenance, educational outreach and new restoration projects.

- May 24-25 – Spring PDK Rides Weekend in Atlanta
- Sept 20-21 – East Georgia Warbird Rides Weekend, Athens and Greensboro
- Sept 27 – Senoia Car Show flyover
- Oct 4 – Peachtree City Convention & Visitors Bureau Wine & Warbirds
- Oct 25 – Airbase Georgia Fall Open House
- Nov 6-7 – Delta Tech Ops Atlanta Veterans Day
