DESCRIPTION:Two restored World War II aircraft from Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Georgia will be part of this year’s annual Girls in Aviation Day Sept. 16 at Covington Municipal Airport\, Covington\, Ga. Women in Aviation International (WAI) arranges the entire day dedicated to inspiring young women and girls to explore careers in aviation. Activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. \n\n\n\nAirbase Georgia\, based in Peachtree City\, Ga.\, will be displaying its popular P-51 Mustang\, “Red Nose”\, and a rare P-63 Kingcobra meticulously restored by the Airbase a few years ago\, and named “Miss Betty” in honor of a Georgia woman who actually worked on building it. Betty Bishop was one of thousands of “Rosie the Riveter” women who staffed America’s factories during WWII. Some costumed “Rosies” from Airbase Georgia also will participate. \n\n\n\n“One of the key missions of the CAF and Airbase Georgia is to inspire young people to pursue careers in aviation\, which fits perfectly with this event hosted by the Wheels Down South chapter of WAI\,” said Airbase leader Joel Perkins. “Approximately 250 young people will have the opportunity to enjoy a full day dedicated to aviation.”

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a Commemorative Air Force TRARON Formation clinic at the Atlanta Speedway Airport (KHMP) on November 9-12\, 2023.  All Commemorative Air Force TRARON members are welcome. Training will be offered in the T-6/SNJ/Harvard\, Beech 18/C45\, and T-34 Mentor. Pilots seeking formation training in other aircraft shall contact the organizers before registering to confirm sufficient and appropriate aircraft are expected. Participants are required to be Commemorative Air Force and CAF TRARON members prior to arriving at the clinic. Please contact Chuck Marshall\, TRARON Secretary\, at cmarshall@marshallpoe.com to join TRARON. \n\n\n\nArrival day is scheduled for Thursday\, November 9th and the clinic will begin with a mandatory safety briefing each morning at 0800.  Ground school will be provided at 6PM on Thursday the 9th for those needing initial and recurrent formation ground instruction. Training will conclude Sunday the 12th with departure day being Sunday the 12th.REGISTER ONLINE. The registration fee is $125.00. \n\n\n\nTRAINING?  To be added to the list of trainees at the clinic (Wingman or Lead qualification)\, select Yes for “I want formation training” during registration. Please select No if you are participating for proficiency flying or as an IP/CP.  \n\n\n\nINSURANCE. All TRARON clinic participants must have comprehensive aircraft owner’s liability insurance for all aircraft that will be on the clinic premises or participating in the clinic\, with coverage that meets the following requirements: \n\n\n\n\nAmount: Coverage in the amount of not less than $1\,000\,000 per occurrence Combined Single Limit Bodily Injury and Property Damage. If per passenger sub-limits apply\, such sub-limit coverage shall not be less than $100\,000 per passenger.\n\n\n\n\n\nTypes of Operation: The coverage shall include all types of operation contemplated at the clinic\, including “formation flying”.\n\n\n\n\n\nTerm: Coverage for the duration of the clinic.\n\n\n\n\nEach participant shall supply a valid Certificate of Insurance (COI) in advance\, satisfactory to TRARON\, evidencing such coverage and naming the Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia as an Additional Insured. The COI must contain the following specific provisions and language: \n\n\n\n\nPilot Name: Include the name of the authorized pilot(s).\n\n\n\n\n\nAircraft Identification: Include the aircraft type and registration number.\n\n\n\n\n\nName of the Certificate Holder: “The Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia\, and its officers\, directors\, sponsors\, clinic staff and organizers. CAF Airbase Georgia\, 1200 Echo Court\, Peachtree City GA\, 30269. Certificate Holder is included as an Additional Insured.”\n\n\n\n\n\nWaiver of Subrogation: Certificate shall include a Waiver of Subrogation.  However\, if your COI is issued under an excess liability policy that does not contain hull coverage\, this requirement does not apply.\n\n\n\n\n\nOther Additional Named Insured: Registrant must refer to the event registration page to determine whether other entities (e.g.\, airport\, event host) must be named as additional insured on separate COIs supplied to TRARON.\n\n\n\n\nHOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT. Prior to attending the formation clinic\, all participants shall sign and agree to the hold harmless. During registration you will be asked to print\, sign\, witness\, and bring hardcopy of this agreement to the clinic. Each person at the clinic\, including guests and volunteers\, must sign an agreement in order to participate. \n\n\n\nOther Information: \n\n\n\n\nMEALS – Lunch will be provided on Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday via catered meal at the airport. Pizza and light refreshments will be offered on Thursday evening during ground school. Saturday dinner will be a no host located at a local restaurant convenient to Speedway Airport.\n\n\n\n\n\nHOTELS – The following hotels have offered discounted rates for the clinic.\n\nPENDING\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRENTAL CARS\n\nPENDING\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFUEL\, OIL & HANGARS – Atlanta Speedway Airport is the fuel provider and will provide discounted tie-down rate for clinic participants. They’ll both be at the Gator Fly-In and Armed Services Appreciation Day Saturday\, March 23\, 2024. \n\n\n\nThe event takes place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (pre-event pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m.) at University Air Center\, 4701 NE 40th Terrace\, Gainesville\, Fla. (Enter at General Aviation Entrance\, Waldo Road) and is open to the public. Admission and parking are free\, and a complimentary shuttle will be provided.

You can purchase and schedule a ride in the P-51\, SBD\, or LT-6 below. Aircraft lineup differs from morning to afternoon. \n\n\n\nAirbase Georgia will be bringing our Corsair\, Mustang\, and Kingcobra to perform in the show.  Rides will be available in the Mustang!  Book your ride below. \n\n\n\n\nThunder Over Michigan event attendance is not included with your ride.
